It’s back to school season and here’s what I know can happen (I’ve done it too)...
We want to do things differently, to change what didn’t work last year, to finally learn how to feel good while leading
BUT thoughts like:
I would do it differently but I don’t have time.
I want to change how I feel in leadership but this job is what it is.
Maybe things will calm down someday and I can rework things then
Whatever version you can hear yourself say . . .
First, be compassionate.
It is a busy time.
There are a lot of demands and people pulling on your shirt sleeve.
So be gentle.
Imagine giving the sweetest, smallest part of yourself a hug or a word of encouragement.
Second, if you have said or felt one of these refrains from above, you have to ask yourself this question:
Am I willing to have a different experience in leadership this year?
I believe that change starts with our honest appraisal of our willingness to change.
Are you willing to use your time differently?
Are you willing to set new boundaries?
Are you willing to train your teams in new ways?
Are you willing to ask, “Where do I need to say no?”
Are you willing to disappoint some in order to actually have the impact and experience you long for?
I’ve been coached on things that I am in deep suffering around AND I’ve had to acknowledge that I wasn’t yet willing to change.
My wild and deep belief is that nothing has to be the way it is.
NOTHING.
So if you want
A dynamic and supportive leadership team that consistently challenges the status quo and creates something better for kids
To feel rested, free and creative as you lead your teams, teachers, and kids
To stop doing the things you do every year even though they barely work or drive you crazy
Then you have to ask, “Am I willing to change?”
If your answer is “Hell YES! (but I’m a little freaked out)” Don’t worry. I’ve got your back.
Here are two tools to help.
The first is a guide to help you set the right foundation for your leadership team. Stop rushing and worrying and freaking out every back to school season meeting.
Slow down.
Breathe.
Set it up to really work.
Get your guide here.
The second tool is really an invitation.
I’m hosting a day-long retreat in Denver called Autumn Attunement.
It’s going to be a day of claiming our wellbeing, joy, connection, and feminine powers as leaders.
We’ll have a guest yoga teacher and meditation teacher.
We’ll sit outside and smell the leaves changing.
We’ll allow ourselves the time to talk, process, and dream.
We’ll learn and practice new tools that can keep us well even when the work is tough.
We’ll cultivate delight.
Right now this day of meaningful self care is priced less than a 90 minute massage and this early bird price is available until August 30th.

My friends, I am cheering you on as you launch this new school year!
Your coach,
Maggie
